A Royal Encounter
Towards the end of last week, I received an intriguing email inviting us to take a small group of children to a SportsAid event linked to the commonwealth which would involve mystery VIPs. I thought it sounded exciting so I signed us up. I had no idea at that point quite how exciting it would turn out to be… On Thursday, 32 children (and five lucky teachers) headed over to the Copper Box to welcome TRHs the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the Olympic Park. The children were picked either for making excellent progress or for having read the highest number of words in their class in AR. In preparation for the event, the children had made flags from countries in the Commonwealth and a bright and colourful banner - which were particularly popular with the photographers. When Princess Kate and Prince William arrived, they stopped and talked to the children for quite some time and the children even had a chance to ask questions. We had a fantastic day out and it was an experience we will never forget!
