Y5 trip to Chislehurst Caves
Lucky year 5 went caving down in South East London on Wednesday. The tour of the caves lasts around an hour and whilst on the tour they learnt about the long and varied history of the caves. So much can be learnt on a visit to the caves including the science between Light & Dark, Rocks & Soils, the Stone Age, the Romans, the Saxons and right up to the Second World War, when the caves became one of the largest air raid shelters in the country. The children were really excited to take lanterns down into the caves and had to be especially careful not t trip as they made their way round in semi-darkness. Sounds a bit spooky to me…
