Science Week in Reception
This week in Reception we have really enjoyed learning about the ‘three r’s’ that help to sustain our planet: reduce, reuse and recycle! To mark ‘Science Week 2018’ we have been designing and creating our own ecological features to build a ‘sustainable city’. As a year group we have investigated what it takes to live a more eco-friendly life and we have also examined the individual actions we can take to look after our planet. To round up this amazing week of learning, we took part in a ‘Silly Science’ workshop on Thursday morning. We got to meet a wacky and wonderful scientist and she taught us some amazing facts! She also showcased some breath-taking practical experiments and some of our daring friends volunteered to help her make them work. We now know that to create fire three elements must be in play: heat, oxygen and fuel! We know that amniotic fluid protects our brains and that signals pass from our brains to tell our limbs what to do! As a final treat the scientist showed us how to make our own explosions using a bottle of coke and mento sweets. Please carers, can we show you this one at home? ;-)
