Y2 Visit St Paul's Cathedral
This week 2B and 2C visited St Paul’s Cathedral (2A’s turn next week). Our visit started in the crypt, where we discovered memorials for many of our nation’s greatest heroes including Florence Nightingale and Winston Churchill! We learned that St Paul’s was designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1763 after the Great Fire of London. We looked at models of the old church as well as Sir Christopher Wren’s drawings and tools.
Afterwards, we explored the cathedral and admired the amazing interiors before braving the 550 steps up to the magnificent dome! In the Whispering Gallery, we carefully looked at the paintings and intricate mosaics on the ceiling. Some of us even made it further up to the Stone Gallery, where we viewed the stunning London skyline. After a well-earned rest, we transformed into artists and created our own sketches! We had lots of fun exploring our favourite parts of the cathedral and creating beautiful drawings.
