Year 8 GCSE Preferences 2017 - 18

Key dates during the Spring Term for the Option Choices process

 

 

Wednesday 28th February 2018

Year 8 Assembly

We introduce the GCSE Subject Choices to your child.  Each subject will present an inspirational overview of each subject and what it would be like to study them at GCSE

 

Thursday 8th March 2018 Y8 GCSE Preference Launch Event An opportunity for parents and carers to explore the GCSE subjects we offer at the Academy and also discuss the appropriateness of this choice with the subject leaders

Week beginning 28th February

Year 8 Tutor sessions

 

Option booklets and forms sent home.

Students will work through a programme of study sessions, using Kudos careers guidance software.  They will receive advice and guidance from their tutors, careers advisor and also Y12 prefects.

Monday 12th March and Monday 19th March

 

 

‘Try before you buy’.

A full and comprehensive guide for students and parents on each of the GCSE subjects and the preference process.

A series of taster lessons, where students will be able to choose four subjects over the two events.  The event will take place from 3pm-4.10pm

 

 

Thursday 15th March

Y8 Parent Consultation Evening.

 

An opportunity for you and your child to further explore different subject areas and ask questions about the process as a whole, whilst also receiving feedback on your child’s progress in Y8. 

Each child and parent will also meet with a member of the Academy Leadership Team to ensure that the choices they make are both informed and appropriate.

Monday 23rd March

Option Choices forms returned to form tutors.

 

 

 

Early July

Your child will be informed of their GCSE subjects.
